What is New York Water Taxi?
Since 2002, New York Water Taxi (NYWT) has entertained millions of people with exciting ways to navigate New York City and experience the world’s most dazzling skyline and the Statue of Liberty. Our spunky fleet of vessels are the most thrilling, comfortable, and enjoyable boats on the water. New York Water Taxi is the better way to see New York City!
How do I purchase tickets?
You may buy a ticket for our cruises by purchasing right through our website, by calling (212) 742-1969, or by visiting one of our ticket booths at your point of departure.
Do you offer a military discount?
Yes, we offer a $10 off discount for active and non-active duty United States Veterans on all of our regular New York Water Taxi cruises for up to a family of 4 guests. Please present your military I.D. at our ticket booth when you come to purchase tickets. This discount is not valid online.
Are the boats accessible to the handicapped?
All of our boats are designed to be fully ADA Compliant. All of our piers and docks are accessible to the handicapped. For additional safety reasons, wheelchairs do not have access to the top deck.
Can I sit on the top deck?
Yes! Our viewing decks are the best! Our first-come/first-served decks offer 360-degree views that are unparalleled. Capacity is based on U.S. Coast Guard regulations.
Can I bring a bike on the New York Water Taxi?
Yes, if the space allows, you may bring your bike on board.
What is the age limit for child tickets?
For the All-Day Access Pass, child tickets are available for ages 3 - 12 and must be purchased in order to ride the boat. For children under the age of 3, please ask at the ticket booth for an infant ticket; it is free of charge. All children need a ticket.
Can I bring food on board?
Unfortunately, we do not allow any outside food and beverage on any of the tours.
What is the IKEA Express Ferry?
The IKEA Express Ferry is our shuttle service from Wall Street's Pier 11 in Manhattan to Brooklyn's IKEA Home furnishings store. It is $5 to ride during weekdays for adults, and free to ride on the weekends.
Important to know: Weekday customers who spend $10.00 or more at the IKEA store receive a $5.00 credit on their IKEA purchase. All you need to do is present your printed New York Water Taxi ticket at checkout.
Can I bring furniture that I purchased at IKEA on the IKEA Ferry?
Unfortunately, no you may not bring furniture on the ferry. You can bring as much as will fit in your blue IKEA bag, or have your furniture delivered by the IKEA store.
Can I charter a boat for a private event?
Absolutely! Past clients have told us that holding their private events aboard our iconic ships made for unforgettable and successful events. Please feel free to contact our Charters & Sales Department at NYWTevents@nycl.com to learn more!
Do you offer any group discounts?
Yes! We love groups and will do everything possible to accommodate your needs! Please contact our Tourism & Group Sales Department at NYWTinfo@nycl.com.
Can I bring my pet(s) on board?
Only “assisted life” and “seeing eye” dogs are allowed on board. No other animals are permitted.
Is smoking permitted on board?
New York Water Taxi boats are smoke-free so smoking is not permitted.
Do your boats sail in bad weather?
Our boats operate rain or shine. If the Captain determines that weather conditions make it unsafe to sail, the service may be terminated by the Captain at any time. If you reserved a ticket for a boat that is cancelled, we will work with you to exchange your ticket for another cruise. Please call ahead if the weather is bad to find out about any service alerts for that day.
Do you have a Lost & Found?
We are not responsible for any stolen or lost items on our vessels. However, if you have misplaced any items, you may reach out to our team and we will happily check for you. Please contact us at NYWTinfo@nycl.com.
Do you offer one-way tickets between piers?
We run single ride tickets from all of our major piers. One-way tickets are only valid the day of purchase and are only available to purchase at each physical pier location. Below are all New York Water Taxi locations offering single ride (one way) tickets.
- Pier 83 (W. 42nd St.) to Slip 6 (Battery Park)
- Pier 83 (W. 42nd St.) to Pier 16 (South St. Seaport)
- Pier 16 (South St. Seaport) to Pier 83 (W. 42nd St.)
- Pier 1 (DUMBO, Brooklyn) to Pier 83 (W. 42nd St.)
